In practice the thing that justifies the cost is adoption: a panel that teachers use daily is worth several times a cheaper panel that becomes a projector screen because nobody learned the software.

That is also the honest caveat. The premium is only earned if the school invests in training alongside the hardware. A Promethean rollout with no training budget attached will deliver roughly what a value-tier panel would have delivered, at a considerably higher cost.
